If you have unfortunately broken the Moto G4 Plus already, you may want to know how difficult it is to replace the broken LCD screen, change the dead battery or repair the not working loudspeaker, earphone jack, which can also save you money by fixing the phone yourself. Here we’re going to disassemble the Moto G4 Plus to figure out how it looks like inside. Let’s give it a try!
Tools Needed:
Step 1 Power off the phone.
Step 2 Remove the plastic back cover.
There is a small gap at the bottom of the phone, where you can peel off the back cover easily.
Step 3 Remove the middle plate.
First you need to undo all the screws on the middle plate by T3 Torx screwdriver.
Then remove the rubber protective cover and release the connector underneath.
Next don’t forget to remove your SIM and SD card before removing the middle plate.
Then you can remove the middle plate now.
Take a look at the middle plate.
We can try to disassemble the sensor and flash flex cable here, which is sticked to the middle plate, using a tweezers to pry it up would be easy. (PS: if you don’t need to replace it, then you can ignore this part.)
Step 4 Disassemble front screen assembly
Loosen the battery cable first.
Disconnect the screen connector and peel off the sticker which covering the charging port.
Next you can disconnect the vibrator flex connector and remove it, no sticker here.
Move on to the other part, we’ve got the screen flex cable connector to loosen.
Looking further down, another sensor flex cable connector here.
After clearing all the connectors in the motherboard, we just leave 2 screws here to deal with.
Now, time to remove the motherboard.
Have the motherboard in hand, you’ll find there is not so many stuff to be disassembled, just the rear and front facing camera, unluckily, the charging port is soldered to the motherboard, so, take care of your USB charging port.
Then let’s get started with the front facing camera here, peel off the gold protective tape, and you can loosen camera connector and take the front facing camera out.
Turn the motherboard over and do the same to the rear camera.
Now, there’s nothing we can tear from the motherboard.
Look back at the front screen assembly, the headphone jack and ear speaker are lying on the up side of the G4 Plus, also, just use a tweezers to pry them up, no adhesive underneath.
Step 5 Remove battery
As for the battery, there’s also not much work to do.
Just pull out the sticker underneath.
Then you can use a thin card to pry up the battery from the 4 edges, avoiding the flex cable please. Be careful not to make the battery get deformed.
Once the battery has been released, then it just left the LCD screen assembly with frame now.
If you are not confident with your fixing skills, we recommend you to replace the screen with front frame together, there is always a risk chance to replace the screen assembly.
As we can see from the teardown work, the internal structure of the Moto G4 Plus is not that complicated, which is convenient for most people who want to repair their phone themselves. Don’t hesitate to tell us if you have any ideas!
